Shuler's acclaimed “Disarming Violence” presentation and programs for students aid in the development of cultural and psychological understanding of the instinctive and historical roots of violence. Using his knowledge of stage combat (stunts for stage), Shuler explains how TV, movie, and stage violence is created while also showing behind-the-scenes techniques which explain how the participants are kept safe. Using his skills as a psychotherapist, he explains anger management, conflict resolution, and the psychological and instinctive sources of violence. In his presentations, emphasis is put on the importance of controlling our own aggressive tendencies and channeling them into creative, nondestructive activities.
